What is EM®?


The original EM Effektive Mikroorganismen® consist of an optimal combination of lactobacilli, yeasts and phototrophic bacteria whose special properties were recognized and developed in 1982 by Professor Teruo Higa in Okinawa, Japan.

It contains only natural beneficial microorganisms:

Lactic acid bacteria

EM Effektive Mikroorganismen® is a people-friendly and environmentally safe product.
The EM-Technology® does not fight against something. It influences the bacterial balance, so that constructive, regenerative processes are possible. In this way, EM® brings living spaces and living beings into a natural microbial balance and enhances the diversity of microorganisms.

In the course of development EM Effektive Mikroorganismen® have been used successfully in more and more areas:
- in agriculture (improvement of soil quality, livestock, etc.)
- for the environmental purification (e.g. improving water quality, composting)
- in other areas of life (e.g. health care)
- in natural disasters (e.g. floods)
